Deputy General Manager, Nicosia

Our client a well- established Group of companies operating in the retail industry wishes to employ a well knowledgeable and experienced professional
The role: 

To ensure the company operates profitably and in an ethical business manner in order to fulfil company’s targets. Establish, maintain and develop an excellent working environment within the business

The responsibilities:    

  • Implement operational strategies as per the company’s approved Strategic Business Plans
  • Monitor and control the company’s performance and finances in accordance with the business budgets
  • Maximise turnover and profit and affect sensible cost control
  • Monitor and take action to comply with legal and company requirements
  • Manage the acquisition, maintenance and efficient utilization of the company’s physical assets
  • Plan and monitor progress of business projects   scheduled based in the approved Business Plan
  • Liaise with principals and third-party suppliers
  • Monitor and control the company’s quality Management system
  • Establish pricing policies, estimate job cost
  • Plan and schedule all business activities well in advance for approval by the General Manager so that the execution expected times are met
  • Close cooperation / reporting to the General Manager
  • Any other job duties as allocated by the General Manager
  • Managing and motivating a team to increase sales and ensure efficiency
  • Managing stock levels and making key decisions about stock control
  • Analysing sales figures and forecasting future sales
  • Analysing and interpreting trends to facilitate planning
  • Dealing with staffing issues such as interviewing potential staff, conducting appraisals and performance reviews
  • Providing or organising training and development
  • Ensuring standards for quality, customer service and health and safety are met
  • Resolving health and safety, legal and security issues
  • Responding to customer complaints and comments
  • Organising special promotions, displays and events
  • Attending and chairing meetings
  • Touring the sales floor regularly, talking to colleagues and customers and identifying or resolving urgent issues
  • Maintaining awareness of market trends in the retail industry, understanding forthcoming customer initiatives and monitoring what local competitors are doing
  • Ensure store presentation is implemented at all times according to business guidelines and directions

The individual:

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, or any other relevant field
  • Experience in retail industry is a must
  • At least 8 years of experience of which at least 5 in a managerial position of commercial direction and/or operational management
  • Fluent Greek and English language (both written and spoken)
  • Excellent knowledge in computers (MS Office)
  • Strategic and analytical skills
  • Organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to develop and expand work as well as interpersonal relationships
  • Staff management skills
